He came to New York in 1994 and worked at Carla Hall Design Group for seven years before founding Designlounge in 2002. Since then, he has used his creative energy to invent fresh and smart design systems for the firm’s clients. Michael has received numerous design awards from Print Magazine, Graphic Design USA, HOW and others.
Michael has taught design at Parsons The New School for Design as Assistant Professor since 2004. He is a member of the AIGA (American Institute for the Graphic Arts), the “Center for Book Arts, NY”, and the “Arts Students League of New York”. Before founding Designlounge with her partner Michael, Kathryn worked in diverse advertising agencies such as Bloom FCA!, Publicis and the Mingo Group, where she helped to develop campaigns for small and large companies. At Designlounge she uses her artistic talent and attention to detail to create smart “down to earth” communications in print and on the web, including illustration when needed.
Kathryn is also a figurative sculptor. Her artistic talent won her two scholarships through the Art Students League of New York. She maintains her own sculpture studio in Brooklyn. Her work can be seen on her website at www.kathrynporter.com. Kathryn is a member of the “Art Students League of New York.”
